Pune FC Women’s Team custodian Vedangi Kulkarni made a name for herself winning the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award in the Women’s section at PDFA’s Annual Function held on Tuesday.
Being the only Pune FC player to win an individual award, Vedangi was excited and shared her experiences in a quick chat with PuneFC.com.
What was your reaction when you won the award for the Best Goalkeeper?
Honestly, I didn’t expect that I would win the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award. I got on the field the aim that I need to work hard, give my one hundred per cent and enjoy the game. That was the only intention and I’m very thankful to my entire team for the support in this achievement.
How would you sum up your inaugural campaign?
We had a great first campaign. Out of the five games that we played, we won four. Our only loss came against Diego Juniors which proved decisive as they went on to become champions. That was really a competitive game, but that apart we really enjoyed playing in the first-ever Women’s League. We faced a few challenges but we gave our best to finish runners up.
What are your aims for the new season?
As we head into a new campaign we are training with a new desire. The entire team is working hard including our Coach Kalpana Dass as well as all the players and the staff. I am confident that we will improve as a team and will give a better performance in the new season.
