Pune FC midfielder Dhanpal Ganesh has been named in the 28-man probable list for Indian team ahead of the upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Iran on 8th September 2015.
The third round Group-D clash against Iran (38), the highest-ranked Asian team in the FIFA Rankings, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru and will be preceded by an international friendly against neighbours Nepal at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on 31st August 2005.
For Ganesh, the call up to the probable list gives him a unique chance of playing at Pune FC’s home ground in the National Team colours for the very first time.
The Chennai-born midfielder, who made his senior national debut in the preliminary qualifiers against Nepal in Kathmandu earlier this year, also played in India’s two opening Group-D games against Oman (in Bengaluru) and Guam (in Guam) in June and will be hoping play an important part in the upcoming games.
The shortlist named by National Team Coach Stephen Constantine participate in a preparatory camp to be held in Pune from 23rd August, 2015.
