Millennium High School, Vikhe Patil, Lohegaon and Infant Jesus High School through to knockouts

Luvsingh Rajput and Aditya Kadlag set the scoring charts on fire for Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon and Podar International, Wagholi respectively on the opening day of the inaugural Godrej Properties-Pune FC ‘The Futsal Cup 2015’ at the Freekick Turfs in Balewadi.

At the end of the day, three teams Millennium High School (Group C), Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon (Group G) and Infant Jesus High School (Group L) qualified for the knockout stages.

The stand out performance of the day came from Podar International Wagholi’s Aditya Kadlag who hammered four goals in a single game as the team romped to a massive 6-0 win over Abhinava Vidyalaya to log the biggest win of the day.

However, it was Wakad’s Infant Jesus who made it through to the knockouts from Group-L after wins over Podar International (1-0) and Abhinava Vidyalaya (4-0) thanks to three goals from attacker Kapil Dev Jat.

Interestingly a total of 29 goals were scored throughout the day with Vikhe Patil School contributing seven goals, the most among nine teams in action.

Meanwhile, Vikhe Patil’s 11-year-old striker Luvsingh Rajput too impressed one and all notching a unique record by netting the competition’s first-ever hattrick in his team’s 5-1 win over Wakad’s Hume McHenry High School. The Lohegaon-based school had earlier recorded a 2-0 win over Chakan’s Podar International and thus sealed their place in the knockout stage.

Elsewhere in Group-C, Millennium High School topped the group after back-to-back wins over SSPMS Boarding (2-0) and Rewachand Bhojwani Academy (2-1). Interestingly Millennium overcame SSPMS in the final group game which was also a do-or-die game. Striker Hitesh Yadav was the stand out performer with three goals.

At nine-years and seven-months old, Millennium High School’s Shardul Tavre was the youngest goalscorer in the competition and was also the lone Under-10 goalscorer among fifteen who got on the scoresheet throughout the day.
