Pune FC suffered their second loss of the season going down 0-2 to Royal Wahingdoh FC in an I-League Round-13 encounter on Sunday.

Speaking at the post-match Press Conference, Pune FC Coach Karim Bencherifa discussed various things about the game at the Nehru Stadium in Shillong.

When asked about the opponents, Coach Bencherifa said, “We knew the game would be difficult. Royal Wahingdoh is a fantastic team with a lot of players that I admire. They have a lot of quality around the pitch and we lost today to a good team.”

He further added, “Our players gave their best and tried really hard. As a Coach, I take responsibility of the loss today and we have to find solutions to the problems we have. We are disappointed but we have to overcome this situation. This is the second loss in the campaign after quite some time. I know that it will have an impact on the team and it’s my job to support them and find the necessary solutions.”

Explaining further, he said, “We went into the game looking for a win. However, we found it difficult to break through. They controlled the midfield very well and they have players who keep the ball with good passing. It was difficult for us to get back possession and whenever we regained it, we couldn’t break them down because like I said before the match, we hardly had any striker today. In the second half, we tried to fix the problem especially on the flanks. The first goal came at a very difficult time towards the end of the first half due to a lapse of concentration. “

“In the second half, we came in with determination and a better formation as well and we put some good pressure. But then after the second goal it was very difficult for our boys which I can understand,” he concluded.
