Pune FC didn’t have a great start to the game conceding the first goal in the seventh minute. The Phoenix attack surprised the Pune FC defence with a well taken goal on the counter-attack against the run of play.
However, Pune FC equalised immediately in the 10th minute. After Sebastian’s shot was handled by a defender inside the box, he stepped up and slotted home the resultant penalty to restore parity.
Ten minutes later, Pune FC doubled their lead after some brilliant play by Aniket. Controlling a short corner the youngster barged into the box and slotted home past the keeper to give Pune FC the lead.
Pune FC kept on pushing forward and doubled their lead in the 32nd minute. A good combination play on the right between Lalremruata, Sebastian and right-back Kiran resulted in a Kiran cross which was headed across the goal by left-back Asish Rai. Striker Buanthanglun capitalised and slammed home from close range to finish off a brilliant team move.
Pune FC went into the breather leading 3-1.
The second half was a similar story as Pune FC dominated proceedings completely. Having created numerous close chances, Pune FC finally managed to get their fourth in the final ten minutes. Pemba scored a screamer in the 84th minute to seal the game in Pune FC’s favour.
