Pune FC ‘B’ registered a massive 7-2 win over Chetak FC in a PDFA Super Division League Round-10 encounter at the DSK Football Field in Loni on Wednesday.
Goals from Abhishek Mhaske (2nd minute), Amos Lalnienga (8th), Sebastian Thangmuansang (62nd), Omega V. (67th), Lalremruata (70th, 80th) and Aniket Jadhav (73rd) handed Pune FC ‘B’ their sixth win of the campaign. Chetak FC managed to reduce the deficit pulling back two goals in the 86th and the 90th minute.
The win also extended Pune FC B’s unbeaten run to ten games and took their tally to 22 points as they moved back to the top of the table ahead of Bishop’s FC (21 pts) and Pune FC ‘A’ (20 pts).
Pune FC got off to a perfect start taking the lead in the second minute when an alert Abhishek tapped home a rebound after the Chetak custodian fumbled Amos’ cross into the box.
Six minutes later Pune FC doubled their advantage after Amos netted with a great solo effort. The youngster dribbled past a defender into the box and scored through melee of bodies from close range.
Pune FC dominated the proceedings thereafter but missed a host of chances to increase their lead as the first half ended 2-0.
With heavy rains pouring down, the conditions got difficult to play at the start of the second half. But after the excess water drained away, Pune FC took control of proceedings and continued to repeatedly break the Chetak offside trap and netted five goals in a short span of 18 minutes.
First, skipper Sebastian tripled Pune FC’s lead two minutes after the hour mark. Five minutes later, medio Omega followed up with another goal before Lalremruata made it 5-0 in the 70th minute.
Aniket too got on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute as Lalremruata completed his brace netting Pune FC’s seventh in the 80th minute.
As Pune FC pushed up looking for more goals, Chetak struck twice in the final five minutes to reduce the margin of defeat.
