Peninsula Pune Football Club Academy (PPFCA) first-year cadet Sukhadev Patil has been selected to represent the Maharashtra squad in the upcoming Santosh Trophy 2014.

Sukhadev, one of the Under-19 team’s goalkeepers, was named in the 19-member team released by the Western India Football Association (WIFA) for the 68th edition of the prestigious competition.

The Kolhapur-born goalkeeper follows in the footsteps of the trio of former academy cadets goalkeeper Rajiv Miryala, defender Salam Ranjan Singh and central midfielder Fanai Lalrempuia who helped Maharashtra to the semifinals last year.

Placed in Group-A of the West-Zone, Maharashtra will face Gujarat (30th January) and Madhya Pradesh (3rd February) in Goa. The group winners will advance for the final round to be played in Siliguri.
