Pune FC ‘B’ went down fighting 1-2 to hosts Bishops FC in the semifinals of the Bishops Invitational Football Tournament 2014 at the Jeejeebhoy Ground in Camp.

A brace from attacker R.S. Reisomi (35th and 70th minute) put Bishops in the driver’s seat before substitute Sagar Khamaru (75th) pulled one back for Pune FC. The goal however proved to be a consolation as Bishops went through to the final.

With the organisers forbidding Pune FC from fielding Sanchayan Samadder and Sannik Murmu owing to bookings in the previous games, the team was forced into making last minute changes.

Bishops took the lead five minutes past the half hour mark.  An error in the midfield allowed the hosts to start a counter and a through ball was eventually slotted home by Reisomi to give Bishops a 1-0 lead going into the breather.

Pune FC kept on pressing in the second half in search of the equaliser. However, it was Bishops who scored at the other end to double their lead. A good low ball from the right was tapped in by Reisomi to complete his brace.

At the other end, Pune FC pulled one goal back five minutes later. Substitute Sagar – on for winger Jorden Fernandes – did well to score at the near post from the edge of the box on the right to bring Pune FC back into the game.

However, the hosts defended deep and held on for the 2-1 win.
