Thongkhosiem Haokip was one of the few talents promoted into the senior team at the start of the 2013-14 season. He has definitely been one of Peninsula Pune FC Academy’s first batch’s finest finds.
Haokip, who primarily operates as a striker, joined Pune FC in September 2011 and has been an irreplaceable part of the Under-20 team which won two back-to-back I-League titles.
The striker was in scintillating form as apart from contributing to various goals, he himself bagged 5 and 2 goals in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 editions of the U20 I-League tournament respectively.
He also has the unique honour of being the first Under-20 Pune FC player to score a hat-trick which he achieved when Pune FC defeated HAL SC 5-1 in the group stage during the 2011-12 season.
Apart from being consecutive Under-20 I-League champions, Haokip was also part of the team which also won the All India Saras Gold Cup Invitation and Late Prakash Sonkar All India Gold Cup.
Now in the senior setup, Thongkhosiem hopes to gain invaluable experience from his senior teammates and make good use of the opportunities that come his way.
