PDFA Super-6: Pune FC ‘A’ held goalless by Sangam YB

Pune FC ‘A’ did not get off to the start they expected and ended playing out a stalemate with Sangam Young Boys their opening game of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA) Super Division Super-6 League at Range Hills ground.

With the opponents opting to pack their defence with as many players in a bid to stop Pune FC ‘A’ from going through the ploy was frustrating overall.

Two half chances in the first half for Pune FC ‘A’ and a close-call in the dying minute of the game summed up the game.

In the 20th minute, Deepak Kumar receiving a cross from Nikhil inside the box fought off a defender but ended up sending his try over the horizontal.

Pune FC ‘A’s next best chance came five minutes from the breather. Off a well taken corner kick by Nikhil to the first post the rival ’keeper momentarily lost control. However, Thonkhosiem Haokip, positioned the closest, was a trifle late in reacting to allow the keeper gain control.

Towards the end of the game, Kartik’s header to ‘keeper Rajiv Miryala on the edge of the box led to the rival left winger gain possession. However a hasty attempt to finish went wide and allowed Pune FC keep their slate clean.

The drawn encounter was Pune FC ‘A’s first in 16 matches, which includes the PDFA League and the I-League Under-20 League campaigns.
